Week Three of Felege Hiywot Summer Program: A Bountiful Summer

This week at our community urban garden has been bountiful. wWe have so much produce ready to be harvested! We have kale, collards, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers ready to go.

The students at our summer program were able to work with IUPUI CEES interns and begin their long term science project.
The red team chose to do a hydroponics experiment. The students worked with Brianne Lowe from NRCS. The students learned more about insects and had fun with Brianna’s insect activity.
We are also thankful to have Purdue Molecular Agg. Institute come by to see the community urban garden.

Later in the week our summer program students went to 25th and Sherman and participated in the Brightwood neighborhood clean up.
One of our students, Rufus  had an interview with Channel 6 news. The students enjoyed working alongside the members of the community, making a difference. The students also enjoyed getting a scenery change and being able to make a community impact.
Want to check out our bountiful garden for yourself? We’d love to see you here at the garden! Find out how you can get involved and volunteer!
