Week Four of The Felege Hiywot Summer Program: Photography Camp

This week the summer program students finished the program with  Photographer and Story Teller, Paul Best. This year the photography camp focused dealing with trauma. Our students made coping collages with magazine pages.

Our summer program students loved being able to express themselves through the mini project. On the last day of camp the students were able to show their projects and photos to local artists and the surrounding community. It was a great experience and we look forward to having Paul back next year!

The kids at The Felege Hiwyot Center just finished up Photography Camp with visiting artist from former Indianapolis resident Mr. Paul Best who is a photographer, storyteller and English Teacher from Philidelphia. The theme this year was how to use photography to deal with trauma. Note: The audio for the interview was a little off so please turn on your captions if you need to.

At the end of the week the students worked with IUPUI CEES interns by doing a bug scavenger hunt. One of the interns did a “show-and-tell” with a few bugs he brought in. The students were excited to see the tarantula skin, and the other organisms he brought.

Art and science all in one week? Intriguing right? If you want to know more about the awesome things happening at Felege Hiwyot check out our about page and see how you can get involved!
