This past weekend we had the opportunity to have a booth at Congressman Carson’s Youth Opportunities Fair held at the Indianapolis Central Library from 12pm – 7pm. The lobby of the library was taken over by various local organizations offering youth jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities.
The goal of the Youth Opportunities Fair is to present students and parents with a variety of summer enrichment options before the school year ends. In addition to job and internship opportunities for teens ages 15-21, this event will feature local service providers and other groups that offer after school, summer, and volunteer programs designed for young people of all ages. There will also be sessions to help young people with resume and application review as well as interviewing and networking skills.
Our farm manager Benjamin manned our booth with our Youth Leaders to answer any questions and engage with the community.
Our CEO and Founder, Aster Bekele was interviewed by WTLC 106.7. FM about her work with the Felege Hiywot Center.
