Orphanage Of Sebeta

About The Orphanage

Since 2004, we’ve been making an impact in the lives of Ethiopian orphans.

In 2004, members of FHC traveled to Sebeta, an orphanage located near Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We learned about the programs the orphanage offered, toured the grounds, and met some of the 200 orphans living there. After visiting and learning about the orphans, FHC decided to start an Ethiopian orphanage support program and help out any way that we possibly could.

How Felege Hiywot Supports Oprhans of Sebeta

FHC helps supply the classroom materials that Sebeta needs to teach the students to be lifelong learners.

Donations made to Sebeta go towards the maintenance and upkeep of the housing facilities at the orphanage.

From school uniforms to play clothes, your donations help clothe the children of Sebeta.

Medical Care

FHC provides funding and support for the clinic on site at Sebeta. The clinic takes care of all the orphans medical issues.

Not only does our support go to feeding the orphans, but goes towards the garden cultivated by the staff and students.

Life Skills

The programs focus on teaching the kids and youth life skills that they can use inside and outside of the orphanage.

Orphans Still Searching For Sponsors

Through a $300 sponsorship, you can make a difference in the life of an orphan. This money is used for schooling, a living allowance, and goes towards a Christmas gift. Your donation is fully tax deductible, plus you’ll receive information about the child you’re sponsoring and continue to receive updates about their progress.

Sponsored Orphans

FHC is excited to announce that some of the orphans at Sebeta have found sponsors! You can make a difference in the life of an orphan like the ones below.

Does the orphanage accept donated items?

Absolutely! The orphanage has an on-going list of things that would help them educate, feed, and care for the children at the facility. Some of the items the orphanage frequently needs include:

  • Woolen thread
  • Spools of thread
  • Fabric
  • Folding tables
  • Garden supplies including tools
  • Orchard seeds
  • Medical clinic supplies
  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Computers
  • School supplies
  • Toys

To donate an item from the list above or to learn more about the specific needs the orphanage is currently facing, feel free to contact us.

How much does it cost to support one orphan?

The cost of becoming a guardian is only $300. Your $300 donation goes towards education, medical, and food expenses. The donation is also fully tax deductible.

How is my donation used at the orphanage?

The financial support of individual orphans is a one-to-one direct relationship. Your sponsorship money is passed through FHC and all of it goes to the orphan you are supporting. We do not hold any of the money. Instead, the money is used for education, clothing, medical care, and food for the orphan designated to you.

How can I sponsor an orphan?

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor to one or more of these children, please contact us about the children currently looking for sponsors. FHC will send you a confirmation letter with information about the child(ren) you have chosen. You will be asked to return it along with a check for $300 US dollars per child to:
