Update on recent renovation by Major Tool and Eagles Church Volunteers and National City Bank Volunteer Day activities at FHC.
A hugh thanks to Major Tool Corporation and to Eagles Church and their volunteers for the work done on the structure at 1650 Sheldon Street. Many of them have faithfully come and given up their Saturdays to do construction that will soon enable FHC to have a much needed kitchen and indoor plumbing. What a blessing they are to us!

You can see that 1650 now has a new insulated floor, new walls for the kitchen. laundry closet, and bathrooms, and a new temporary back door. (The door will be replaced, because according to building codes, new doors must open outwards.) Additionally, the room addition that will become the pantry and the utility room received a new roof and shingles.

FHC had another big surprise this past week when National City Bank volunteers showed up Thursday afternoon for a work day. We were blessed by their landscaping efforts in putting down weed barrier fabric and covering it with mulch after clearing all the weeds that were sprouting up between the fence and the curb.
Trees, flowering shrubs and flowers that had been planted on May 20 during the Lilly Day of Service were slowing being surrounded by weeds. Placing the barrier fabric and covering it with mulch had only just begun in the days before NCB's arrival. When they left, the area was beautifully mulched without a weed in site. Their work will enable the area to be maintained in a manner that will allow the plantings to shine. So another big thank you to National City Bank for their hard work on a very hot and humid day!
