Scrip

We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a new fundraising program for our organization.  It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop.

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local  retailers.  They’re the same gift certificates that you buy  at the store.  Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others.

Donations

Felege Hiywot Center is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. If you would like to donate to FHC please click here to donate using PayPal.

   If you do not have a PayPal account, click on the "Donate" button above. Then on the PayPal donation page, enter in your donation amount, then find and click on the "Continue" link near the bottom of the page to donate with your choice of credit card.

Ethiopian Cuisine Carry-Out

 Occasionally, Ethiopian Cuisine carry-out is offered as a fund raising event.  Funds raised from donations at these events will be used for programs and activities offered by Felege Hiywot Center for Indianapolis intercity youth, second generation Ethiopian youth in Indianapolis, and orphans in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Orphanage Needs

   Our partner orphanage, Sebeta, in Ethiopia provides for the care, education and oversight of approximately 200 orphans. When our Executive Director visited and volunteered with them in 2008, several areas of need were identified. FHC desires to enable these needs to be met, thus improving Sebeta's ability to care for the orphans.

Kitchen Supplies

 Thanks to a grant and to hours of renovation efforts by several corporations, the 1650 house has a kitchen fully equipped with appliances. However, to make it fully functional, many items are needed; utensels, pots/pans, oven mits, consumable paper products, mops, and cleaning supplies, etc. This will enable us to use the kitchen with our various programs. For example, imagine having garden produce without any place to prepare it for consumption, and the difficulty in preparing snacks for our summer garden campers. A detailed list is being prepared and will be posted here in the near future. (Come back often.)
