Why Oct 5th, 2010 is Major Tool and Machine Day?
Major Tool and Machine (MTM), 1458 East 19th st. two blocks north of our center has been our great and committed supporter since 2006. The president Rick Wiegand, has taken our center as a personal project and completely renovated the 100 year old houses using his employees after work and weekends. They transformed our site from a complete outdoor camp to indoor and outdoor camp to where we can carry out health/Nutrition program, utilize microscope and laboratory equipments to teach investigational science and teach language arts by read gardening books and writing journals. This complete renovation was done with 100 % volunteer time and all material donated from MTM and their associates.
MAJOR TOOL AND MACHINE GOT US

FROM HERE TO HERE AND HERE
Transformation of our building allowed us to expend our outdoor experience with indoor reinforcement projects.

Also due to 95% percent of the youth we serve being affected by gun violence, we incorporated performing arts to open dialogue among the youth to address the feeling of hopelessness and anger so they can seeks solution through peaceful discussions.?The play, A Song for Peace, tells the story of life from both the local perspective of a pre-teen living in inner-city Indianapolis and the global perspective of a child living amidst the violence of rural Ethiopia. The need for this kind of media will continue to increase as long as as fear, anger, and frustration dominate the life of the children we serve. Rick Wiegand again build a stage set for the play at MTM with the help of his employees and during the play Rick and his family were there talking to the audience during intermission as well as handing out popcorn. Rick’s wife and daughters are also fully involved volunteering in our gardening summer camp.

We also have Chris Rothenberger, MTM employee, who has gone above and beyond. Chris serves as a board member devoting his time to all board responsibilities. He participated in all the renovation project, he stays on call for all our building maintenance issues, he prays with us and pretty much has dedicated himself to God's work we do at FHC.
He never feels he has done enough and we appreciate his dedication.

Rick and his employees are envlved in more than just renvating our buidlings and maintaining them.
During renovation Rick takes time mentoring Quentin,
one of our student, showing him how to drill.

Chris and Rick talk to the youth
about the importance of learning
business and managing money.

We and our children have been truly blessed from the MTM's kindness and love they have shown us through their work.
FHC Board, staff, and children say thank you, we are G R A T E F U L E !!!!!!
May God continue to bless you and your loved ones.
