Disciples of Christ visited FHC for a tour, panel discussion, and volunteering in the garden as part of their General Assembly's "Back to the Garden" theme.
Two groups, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, visited the garden at FHC. The agenda for each group included the Executive Director talking about her faith and how it affected the founding of FHC. Each group worked in the garden weeding or turning over soil for yet another planting of seeds for about an hour. They were next escorted on a tour of the site and learned of the activities that occur during our Education by Gardening Summer Camp. After a break and enjoying some traditional American snacks as well as sampling Ethiopian food, groups participated in a panel discussion about gardening in one's home community with a time for questions and answers. The panel discussion included FHC volunteers from KIB (Keep Indianapolis Beautiful), Eli Lilly, and a local garden enthusiast.
