Starting April 18, 2009 many dedicated volunteers started working every Saturday on the northern building at the Center on Sheldon Street. Please share in our joy of God's provisions of experienced dedicated volunteers and financial grants and gifts that are enabling this work to be accomplished.
The dedication of volunteers who have given of all of their Spring and Summer Saturdays and now their evenings is beyond what words can describe. Surely they are Angels sent from God above! Felege Hiywot has big shoes to fill to pass this energy, commitment, and love for others that these volunteers have blessed on us to the children who will enter this property and through these doors. Their renewed energy and near daily efforts may be fueled by the fact that the end of this work is drawing closer to being complete. The light at the end of a very long tunnel grows increasingly brighter each day. We join them in sharing this excitement.

Highlights of the weeks work are listed below along with a few selected pictures.
August 26 - A gable was added to the porch roof so that it will match the porch roof of the other building on the property.
August 27 - Siding was finished on the back gable of the main roof
August 28 - Trim was finished and installed on baseboards and doors
August 29 - Porch was trimmed and shingled. A volunteer master craftsman made a copy of the original gable vent and brought it for later installation. A small deck landing was started for the back door exit.
We were visited by families and spouses of both garden camp volunteers and construction volunteers. It was wonderful to be able to share with them all the work that has been completed on this renovation.
